A research conducted by BUPAR in Turkey asked the voters who will vote for the first time in Turkey, “Who should be the President?” To the question, 20.5 percent responded, “Recep Tayyip Erdogan”, while 72 percent chose “a new president.”

BUPAR Research Consultancy shared the results of its research that focuses on young voters who will vote for the first time in the upcoming elections in Turkey.
According to the data obtained from a face-to-face survey of 2,780 people aged 17-24, 65 percent of first-time voters said they would vote for the Nation Alliance (an electoral alliance in Turkey, consisting of four opposition parties, namely the Republican People’s Party (CHP), the Good Party (İYİ), the Felicity Party (SP), and the Democratic Party (DP).While the rate of new voters who would vote for the People’s Alliance (an electoral alliance established between the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) and the opposition Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) was 23 percent.
Young people’s income does not meet their expenses
Half of the respondents stated that “My income does not cover my expenses, I spend my savings”, while 30 percent of the youth stated that they get financial help from their families to live by.
75 percent answered “It will get worse” to the question “How will your economic situation and the economic situation of the country be in 2022?” 70 percent answered “No” to the question “Do you feel happy in general?” 77 percent of high school students said “Yes” to the question “Would you like to study abroad” while 12 percent answered “No”. 11 percent said, “I can’t decide right now.”
While 71 percent of the university students answered “The quality and prestige of the universities in our country are declining worldwide.”
Erdogan’s biggest rival: ‘Someone new’
While 65 percent of first-time voters said they would vote for the Nation Alliance, the rate of new voters who would vote for the People’s Alliance was 23 percent. 12 percent stated that they would vote for other parties and non-alliance parties. Young people responded that they are in favor of change and that they want a new president to the question “Do you want Recep Tayyip Erdogan to be re-elected or will a new President be elected in the first Presidential election to be held?”
