Climate activist Greta Thunberg visited Açık Radyo to express solidarity and show support for the station amid rising concerns over media freedom in Turkey.

Support for Açık Radyo has surged in recent weeks following the Radio and Television Supreme Council’s (RTÜK) decision to revoke the broadcasting license of one of Turkey’s long-standing independent radio stations. The move has sparked widespread outrage, raising concerns about escalating pressure on media freedom and freedom of expression in the country.
As a sign of solidarity, world-renowned climate activist Greta Thunberg visited Açık Radio to show her support. Thunberg met with Açık Radio’s Editor-in-Chief, Ömer Madra, and stated, ‘Açık Radio must stay on air.
Expressing her support for Açık Radio, Thunberg said, ‘Açık Radio must stay on air! It’s more important than ever to have honest media platforms that speak the truth about the climate crisis and human rights.
