In the second round of the presidential election in North Macedonia, Gordana Siljanovska Davkova emerged as the country’s new president, marking a historic moment as the first female president of North Macedonia.

Following the first round of the presidential election held on April 24th in North Macedonia, the country’s new president was determined in the subsequent second round.
According to unofficial results after counting 83.12% of the votes, Gordana Siljanovska Davkova, the candidate of the main opposition party VMRO DPMNE, secured 64.84% of the votes, thus becoming the new president of the country and marking a historic moment as its first female president.
Her opponent, the candidate of the ruling Social Democratic Union of Macedonia (SDSM) and the incumbent President Stevo Pendarovski, received 29.29% of the votes.
The voter turnout for the presidential election in the country was 46.69%.
About Gordana Siljanovska Davkova
Davkova, who served as a member of the Parliament Constitutional Commission and as a state minister from 1992 to 1994, has held positions as a UN Election Expert, Vice President of the Group of Experts on Local Government of the Council of Europe, and a member of the Venice Commission.
Siljanovska Davkova was also a presidential candidate in the country’s presidential election held in 2019, where she lost in the second round.
Since 2020, Davkova has been serving as a member of parliament in the North Macedonian Parliament.
