According to the results of the 2022 Quality of Life survey announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute, the average satisfaction rate of households regarding their financial situation in Turkey is 46.9%. Additionally, the percentage of people who have not read any books in the last 12 months is 69%.

The results of the 2022 Quality of Life survey conducted by TÜİK to determine the satisfaction levels of individuals aged 15 and above on social issues and their participation in social activities are far from encouraging.
50% not satisfied with their economic situation
According to the research, the average satisfaction rate of individuals in Turkey regarding their household’s financial situation was 46.9%.
For individuals at risk of poverty or social exclusion, this figure was 36.9%.
The average satisfaction percentage in personal relationships for all individuals was 65.2%, while for those at risk of poverty or social exclusion, it was 60.2%.
Regarding the time allocated to leisure activities for all individuals, the average satisfaction rate was 47.4%, while for those at risk of poverty or social exclusion, it was 42%.
A significant portion of the population is unable to participate in social and cultural activities
According to the research, in the last 12 months, 85.3% of individuals aged 15 and above did not go to the cinema, 93.7% did not attend live performances, 92% did not visit cultural venues, and 94.9% did not attend live sports events.
Among those at risk of poverty or social exclusion, 23.5% did not go to the cinema, 21.9% did not attend live performances, 21% did not visit cultural venues, and 17% did not attend live sports events.
Furthermore, in the last 12 months, 69% of individuals aged 15 and above did not read any books, while 31% read at least one book. When looking at the book reading rates based on age groups, the age group that read the most books outside of school books in the last 12 months was the 15-24 age range, with 50.9%. The lowest book reading rate was 14.1% for individuals aged 65 and above.
The majority of individuals who have not met with friends or relatives, either face-to-face or remotely, are those at risk of poverty or social exclusion. When examining the frequency of spending time with relatives or friends at home or elsewhere, engaging in conversations or activities (getting together), it was determined that 28.7% of individuals meet with relatives, and 37.3% meet with friends every week.
Regarding communication with relatives through phone, SMS, or internet (non-face-to-face), the most common option is meeting every week, with 40.9%. As for friends, the highest communication frequency is also every week, at 44.3%.
