State television denied the allegations that Amini had been beaten, saying that the police took the young woman to the police station to “advise and educate”, where she suffered a heart attack.
After Amini’s death, Iranian women flocked to the streets. According to media reports, the women chanted “death to the dictator” as security forces used tear gas to disperse the protesters.
Iranian journalist and activist Masih Alinejad claimed that security forces in the Iranian city of Sakkız opened fire on peaceful protesters after Amini’s funeral, and several protesters were injured.
Social media users also shared images of police attacks against women. The #MahsaAmini hashtag, which was opened on Twitter to protest the murder of Amini, was used more than 1.63 million times on the social media platform.
Hengaw Human Rights Organization shared the balance sheet of the protests for Amini. According to the report, at least 38 people were injured and 13 people were arrested in the attacks of Iranian special forces on protests in the provinces of Saggiz and Senendec to protest the killing of Amini.
